As an addendum to my baby led weaning post I'd like to share some tooth news. As in, we now have some! The first came Saturday and another popped up yesterday. Maybe now Small will actually be able to eat a bit of the broccoli instead of sucking on it.

baby-led weaning vegan style

We did baby led weaning with Thing1 which went very well. It's messy but eating is a great learning experience for babies and they get to gnaw on things to soothe achy gums when teeth are coming in. It's especially great for Thing2 because he likes sitting at the table with his big brother and it gives me some much needed time for cooking and eating myself.

This reminded me of a picture I took a while ago ago of Thing1 at the grocery store where he begged for broccoli. Most kids freak out in the candy isle. Mine loves the produce section.

Dr Who

We are big fans of Dr. Who around here. Before Medium could even put together a sentence he came downstairs one Sunday morning and attempted to turn on the TV, saying "Dr. Who! Dr. Who!"
Lucky for him I found these awesome sonic screwdrivers on Amazon.com. They had the 10th and 11th Doctors' so we got one for Large too.
Now we're prepared for the invasion of Cybermen. Or Daleks. Or Cybermen and Daleks.

Thing1 has his tricycle inside on the carpet which makes it difficult for his little legs to pedal so he tells me, "Mom, it not work. Maybe it's the batteries."

riding with Grandma Tutie & Uncle Dylan

Grandma Tutie has generously offered to give me riding lessons. Despite the fact that it has been at least 15 years since I've been on a horse I jumped at the chance. And clearly I wasn't the only one.
It was all I could do to get the kid off so I could continue my lesson. Luckily Uncle Dylan braved the rain and took him for a spin.

Today at lunch we were having a conversation about eye color. I mentioned something about all the pretty browns and greens in Large's eyes and he stopped eating and said, "Wait. I thought my eyes were hazelnut."

Thirsty Thursday

Today Large, who is not a morning person (is anybody really?), was awakened by a house noisy with morning goings-on. He walked out of his bedroom and groggily saw his father off to work then proceeded to the kitchen for a glass of water. After retrieving a plate from the cupboard and the Brita pitcher from the fridge he attempted to fill his plate with the refreshing beverage. It's good to know I'm not the only one that's useless before a cup of coffee.

hide & seek & poop

Like many kids Medium has trouble going #2 on the potty. He tells us he is hiding and goes behind the curtains in the living room to do his business no matter how many inducements we offer to get him to go in the bathroom. Just now Large heard Medium coming down the hall so he ran to hide behind the curtain to jump out and surprise his brother. Unfortunately he wasn't fast enough and Medium saw him going back there as he came around the corner. He took one look at his brother hiding behind the curtain and told me, "He's pooping!"

This morning I overheard Thing1 playing Market Piggy, as we like to call it around here, with the baby:
"Dis wittle toe piggy, dis wittle toe piggy, dis wittle toe piggy. Ooh, all way home!"

We had a busy Sunday playing at Spencer Beach Park and hanging out @ Uncle Dylan's. The highlight of the day was Grandma Tutie's new ponies. The boys got a huge kick out of brushing, feeding and riding them.
