whine fest 2011

I once swore than I would never talk baby talk to my kids. Now I'll do anything to see the baby smile. Sometimes I make friends with people in line at the grocery store just to communicate with another adult.

Once upon a time I didn't even get to the bar until 11. Now I'm almost certainly in bed. I used to go to bed at sunrise. Now I'm up at 6:15 to nurse the baby. Even if I can get him to go back to sleep I'm too awake to sleep myself. And the two year old is up by then anyway.

I spent this beautiful Friday evening not playing beer pong or BBQing something marinated in beer or out dancing with friends (again, with beer) but barricaded in my shower (no beer involved) with the bedroom door and the bathroom door locked (for extra protection against tiny invaders). And still I found myself with bath toys underfoot. Such is parenting.

I feel very lucky to be able to spend my day at home with my kids but the downside of being a stay at home mom is that I stay at home. So next time you're in the area around seven stop by and hang out with my kids while I go have a martini. Pretty please?

  1. I'm quite sure Shawn will be more than happy to watch the kids while you and Sundance have a couple of nights out. I'll even send along the cash to fund them :-). And when Bob and I are there in the fall, same thing.

I do understand how hard it must be for you band I'm glad you have an outlet for your whining. Feel free at anytime.
